Fort Rupert is the home of the Kwagu'l (or Kwakiutl), a member of the Kwakwaka'wakw speaking peoples of the Northwest Coast of British Columbia.

The Kwagu'l are world renown for very highly stylized primitive art. Knowledgeable collectors or curators can commission fine Northwest Native art works from Calvin Hunt, considered to be one of the foremost artists of the Northwest Coast. His First Nations art works, have been sent to places around the globe, such as Germany, Japan, Australia, China, Scotland, and throughout North America.

Our gallery features a wide selection of Calvin Hunt original limited edition signed silk-screen Native art prints. Prints from artists, E.A. Hunt, Ross Hunt Sr., and Tom Hunt are also available. All prints can be purchased either framed (museum quality) or unframed.

Northwest Indian art by Mervyn Child are valued collectible pieces. Mervyn's portfolio brings 20 years experience in carving Kwagu'l art. He has gained considerable expertise in totem pole carving during his apprenticeship with Calvin.

Stephen K. Hunt, has made paddles, model paddles and canoes a specialty of his. Model canoes are carved out of western red cedar, complete with miniature paddles and pullers. Email us and we can send photos of in stock inventory.

Calvin and Mervyn have both done extensive research into canoe carving. Their list of accomplishments include our 32' Maxwalaogwa canoe, built to take part in the famous Quatuwas (People Gathering Together) canoe festival, in Bella Bella 1993. Currently we have the Hunt22 composite canoe on the market. Our canoe can carry a family of four to six people, with plenty of room for gear. Visit our Hunt22 page for a closer look. More photos of the canoe can be emailed to you - we have some great photos of sailing the Hunt 22!

We also carry hand-engraved original Northwest Coast jewelry in sterling silver. Commissions are available in both sterling silver and high karat gold.
